I have been a vegetarian since the day i was born. except for those few times i ate at taco bell, and found chicken in my bean burrito, i have never tasted or wanted a single bite of meat. i was raised on the idea that if you want real love, peace, and freedom then you actually have to practice what you preach. i love animals - ALL of them, not just the specific favs like tigers and elephants. just because a chicken isnt "cool" doesnt mean i cant respect its life and feel merciful towards it; all living beings have the same soul, just different coverings.
i dont crave meat - it looks downright rank! have you ever really looked at it??? any sane person would cringe at the sight of ingesting such a horrible mess. i love the beautiful things in life and i mean to be beautiful in every way possible, and i know that feasting on the bodies of dead animals will not only take me further away from my goals, but will diminish them all together.
i am so happy that i can legitimately say that i actually DO love animals and respect life enough to not be apart of such a barbaric act as to eat a dead carcass. ignorance is not bliss people and not an excuse either. if you truly love life, respect freedom and want peace then dont be bias or choosy; talk the talk AND walk the walk.
“I don’t hold animals superior or even equal to humans. The whole case for behaving decently to animals rests on the fact that we are the superior species. We are the species uniquely capable of imagination, rationality, and moral choice - and that is precisely why we are under an obligation to recognize and respect the rights of animals.” -Brigid Brophy
“Truly man is the king of beasts, for his brutality exceeds theirs. We live by the death of others: we are burial places! I have from an early age abjured the use of meat, and the time will come when men such as I will look on the murder of animals as they now look on the murder of men.” -Leonardo da Vinci
“Martin Luther King taught us all nonviolence. I was told to extend nonviolence to the mother and her calf.” -Dick Gregory
“Nothing will benefit human health and increase the chances for survival of life on Earth as much as the evolution to a vegetarian diet.” -Albert Einstein
“To give a child animal products is a form of child abuse.” -Neal Barnard, MD
“A man can live and be healthy without killing animals for food; therefore, if he eats meat, he participates in taking animal life merely for the sake of his appetite. And to act so is immoral.” -Leo Tolstoy
“The shriek was followed by another, louder and yet more agonizing...for once started upon that journey, the hog never came back. One by one the men hooked up the hogs and slit their throats. There was a line of hogs with squeals and lifeblood ebbing away… until at last each vanished into a huge vat of boiling water (some still alive). The hogs were so innocent. They came so very trustingly. They were so very human in their protests. They had done nothing to deserve it." -Upton Sinclair in The Jungle
“He is closest to God who harms no living creature.” -Bhagavad Gita
