Mating season?

There are six seasons in India – yeah six: spring, summer, monsoon, autumn, pre-winter and winter. It’s officially autumn now which means that the humidity and constant fluctuation of rains is finally coming to an end. The change is subtle but I can feel it in my bones. Next month marks the two year anniversary of my living in India, and I have to say that I’m really excited for the coming seasonal change…

Around this time there are an abundance of baby animals being born. Birds make nests in the crooks of my window and dogs yelp in the distance from the burning pains of their mating rituals – I have seen doggy threesomes people, it’s ridiculous. Life starts to spring up again, lying dormant for so long from the extreme heat of summer and constant rain of monsoon. A light breeze signifies that a change is coming and I get to turn my ceiling fan down a notch or two!

It’s quite a scene in India when the weather cools down because autumn, pre-winter and winter are the best times to be here. The skies are always blue, the temperature is perfect and I can even rock a decent jacket when it gets really cold! Every one I know from all parts of the world come back to Mayapur and we all have a blast dancing in the temple after the elephant processions and taking long bike rides through the jute fields.
If you have never been to India, or even pondered coming – it’s really a shame. India is magical and will change your life.
