whats your style over there?

my friends back home always ask me what i have to wear in india... "is it a burka" "do you wear a funny dot on your forhead" "what are those sheets you wrap around yourself"... well, i guess im going to kinda explain it?

usually i wear a sari, which you wrap around your body, pleat, and cover your head with. they come in all colors and styles and are the traditional dress of the women in india. covering your head is optional, yet preferred, but if you wanna be a total rebel like me, dont do it ;) women tie their hair back in a braids or low bun because they say culturally loose hair means a loose women... and loose hair drives boys crazy. i have fringe (bangs) and usually push all my hair to one side and make a loose french braid - the best of both worlds. i dont wear a funny dot on my face though. they are called "bindis" and signify if you are married. jewelry is a must in india - its kinda like the latest hand bag style. i rock a gold septum ring, gold hoop earrings with dangly pearls, ankle bells, toe rings and four (fake) gold bangles. sometimes the ankle bells get annoying because when i try to sneak somewhere (and im always trying to sneak somewhere) you can hear me... im like a frikken kitty. other than that i dont wear any shoes... i dont need to. no one really does and im not the biggest fan of flip-flops :(
